The Hindman Baptist Church
(M. Barker)

At the Hindman Baptist Church
No one's reputation was smirched
If you happened to walk down the aisle
You were greeted with a chorus of smiles
There was no one to cast the first stone
Only love and compassion were shown
But the deacons might sit down and pray
For the loved one that had gone astray

1st Chorus

Sometimes it brought me to my knees
When Beulah would tickle those keys
And sing of salvation from sin
And the whole congregation joined in
There was no bitterness to provoke
Just good upstanding Christian folk
Who gave all that they could afford
In the service of our Blessed Lord

2nd Chorus

I thought life was dandy and fine
When I was a young boy of nine
Then the Spirit came on me that day
And showed me the err of my ways
When the Reverend J. S. Bell
Preached his sermons on Heaven and Hell
It beckoned my young soul to search
At the Hindman Baptist Church
