My Father's House
(Mark Barker)
There's a gateway connecting Earth and Heaven
A passage leading to a higher plane
Though the door is open wide
The multitudes blindly pass by
In their eagerness for fortune and for fame
It's a gravel road
Easy to overlook
It's a narrow road
According to the Book
When my time on earth is gone
I will kneel before the throne
Forevermore to dwell within my Father's house
Someday soon I'm going to cross the Jordan River
All my loved ones are a'waitin over there
When my suffering is through
I'm going to bid this world adieu
When I rise up to meet my Savior in the air
In my Father's house
The halls are filled with praise
In my Father's house
I'll abide for all my days
When I hear the trumpet's sound
I will shed this earthly gown
Forevermore to dwell within my Father's house
I will lay my burdens down
And I'll head for higher ground
Forevermore to dwell within my Father's house
