If
An Oak Falls Down
(M.
Barker)
If
an oak falls down in the woods with no one around
“Does it make a sound” I heard someone ask
And if a prophet’s word is never read or ever heard
Has prophecy occurred and will the flame be passed?
When
the fighting’s shunned and the war is finally done
“Will the peace be won?” I heard someone ask
And will the truth prevail when the next war tells the tale?
Will it be unveiled or will it wear a mask?
Chorus:
There’s
a hawk flying high and he’s circling the sky
Plainly he defies the law of gravity
He will not be bound by laws down on the ground
He remains renowned for his majesty
Will
the world withstand the great onslaught of man?
“I don’t think it can” I heard someone say
And will hope endure when it’s dragged through the sewer?
And will that hope ensure there’ll be a brighter day
2nd
Chorus:
There’s
a hawk flying high and he’s circling the sky
Plainly he defies the law of gravity
He will not be bound by laws down on the ground
As he soars high above the depravity
